The Adani Group has announced an investment of more than ₹1,060 crore for the development of a major cement grinding unit in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district, further strengthening the conglomerate’s cement manufacturing footprint in central India. The project is expected to generate around 1,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities and significantly boost industrial activity in the region.
The foundation stone for the new Ambuja Cement grinding facility was laid in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The project will be developed by Adani Cement in two phases with a total annual production capacity of 40 lakh metric tonnes. The first phase is targeted for commissioning by 2028.
Speaking at the event, Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises, said the investment marks the largest industrial investment made in Guna so far and reflects the group’s confidence in Madhya Pradesh’s growing industrial ecosystem. He highlighted that improvements in logistics, industrial infrastructure, and transportation connectivity under the PM Gati Shakti initiative have created a strong environment for large-scale investments in the state.
According to company officials, the grinding unit is expected to stimulate the local economy through new opportunities in transportation, supply chains, support services, and small businesses surrounding the plant ecosystem. The project is also projected to contribute over ₹6,000 crore to the state treasury over time through taxes, industrial activity, and associated economic development.
The investment forms part of the Adani Group’s broader commitment announced during the Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit, where the conglomerate pledged investments of around ₹1.1 lakh crore across sectors such as cement, mining, thermal energy, hydro pumped storage, smart meters, and infrastructure development. The company has stated that these investments could generate employment opportunities for nearly 1.2 lakh people in the state by 2030.
Industry observers believe the new cement grinding unit will strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s position as a major cement manufacturing hub due to its strategic location, raw material availability, railway connectivity, and access to key construction markets in northern and central India. The project also reflects continued expansion by the Adani Group in India’s cement sector following its acquisition and scaling up of major cement assets in recent years.
