GOLDBECK SOLAR has started work on what will be its largest solar project in Germany, the 268 MWp Schafhöfen Solar Park in Bavaria. The project is being developed in the municipality of Mötzing in the Schafhöfen district and is backed by investor Blue Elephant Energy.
Under the agreement, GOLDBECK SOLAR will serve as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the turnkey delivery of the project. Groundbreaking for the solar park is scheduled for May 21, 2026, while commissioning is planned for September 2027.
The ground-mounted photovoltaic project will be built using a fixed-tilt south-facing system design. Once operational, the plant is expected to generate around 296,000 MWh of electricity annually, enough to supply about 147,000 households. The project is also projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 200,000 tonnes each year.
The solar park will use photovoltaic modules supplied by Trina Solar and inverters from SMA Solar Technology. Financing for the project includes participation from Commerzbank.
According to the company, the scale of the project requires extensive planning, logistics management and coordination due to its capacity exceeding 268 MWp. The project is also expected to contribute to Germany’s renewable energy targets and support regional economic activity during the construction phase.
