Group Nirmal Announces ₹150 Crore Aluminium Expansion in Odisha as CM Virtually Inaugurates Khordha Facility

Group Nirmal, a leading manufacturer of steel and aluminium wire products, marked a key milestone as Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi virtually performed the groundbreaking ceremony of Unit 4 of Nirmal Wires Pvt. Ltd.’s manufacturing facility in Khordha.

The ceremony took place during a Business Promotion Conclave organised by Industrial Promotion & Investment Corporation of Odisha.

The Khordha facility is among 11 projects scheduled for inauguration at the event, underscoring its significance within Odisha’s broader industrial development agenda.

The event was attended by Group Nirmal’s Managing Director, Nirmal Saraf, along with Directors Piyush Saraf and Parag Saraf, highlighting the company’s continued focus on strengthening its presence in the state.

The company is undertaking a capital expenditure of ₹150 crore to expand its aluminium manufacturing capabilities at the Khordha facility, following formal approval at the 142nd State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) meeting. The expansion will add 5,000 tonnes per month to output, enhancing the company’s ability to cater to high-demand sectors such as power transmission, infrastructure and renewable energy.

Spread across 50 acres, the Khordha unit is one of Group Nirmal’s largest facilities, currently producing 60,000 tonnes of aluminium products annually. Equipped with advanced rolling mills, wire drawing lines and rigid stranding lines, the plant enables end-to-end manufacturing from aluminium rods to finished conductors. The expansion will also introduce advanced conductors such as AACSR, ACAR and ACSS.

“This expansion reflects our long-term commitment to building scale with purpose,” said Piyush Saraf, Director, Group Nirmal. “Odisha’s progressive policies, strategic location and skilled talent pool make it a compelling destination for industrial growth. Our investment in Khordha reinforces our confidence in the state while strengthening our ability to serve both domestic and global markets.”

The project is expected to generate more than 300 jobs across technical, supervisory and support roles, contributing to local economic development and workforce expansion.

The initiative aligns with Odisha’s emergence as a key industrial hub, with Group Nirmal’s increased production capacity expected to support sectors such as energy and infrastructure while strengthening local supply chains.

The project has received strong institutional support from the Government of Odisha, with approval granted during the 142nd SLSWCA meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering investment and enabling industrial growth.
