Sharika Enterprises Appoints Sanjay Verma as CEO to Strengthen Smart Grid Focus

In a move aligned with the accelerating transformation of India’s power sector, Sharika Enterprises has appointed Sanjay Verma as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The leadership transition comes at a time when utilities across India are scaling investments in grid modernization, automation and digital infrastructure to improve reliability and integrate renewable energy. Industry observers view the appointment as a strategic step by Sharika Enterprises to strengthen its positioning in the evolving smart grid ecosystem.

Verma brings over three decades of experience spanning power distribution, utility systems and digital grid technologies. Having served as Executive Director and Board member since 2014, he has been closely associated with the company’s growth in smart grid and power infrastructure solutions.

Prior to this, he held a key role at GE Energy as SWAT Leader – Smart Grids (Greater India Region), where he was involved in early-stage deployment of advanced utility platforms, including SCADA, ADMS, EMS, GIS, WFM, Demand Response Management Systems and smart metering systems. His experience includes working with utilities, regulators and global technology partners such as IBM, Accenture, Capgemini TCS and Tech Mahindra during critical phases of grid modernisation.

Over his career, Verma has contributed to the adoption of distribution automation technologies and intelligent grid solutions, combining technical planning with on-ground execution. During his long tenure at Schneider Electric, he also played a significant role in introducing and building market acceptance for technologies such as reclosers, RMUs, fault passage indicators and compact substations in India.

He has been actively engaged with industry bodies including FICCI, CII, IEEE and IEEMA, and has contributed to sector dialogues through forums, policy discussions and international collaborations, including projects supported by multilateral agencies such as the World Bank.

Commenting on his appointment, Verma said, “The power sector is entering a phase where digitalisation, resilience and flexibility of networks are becoming central. Sharika Enterprises is well positioned to contribute to this transition, and we will continue to focus on strengthening execution and partnerships across the value chain.”

The company’s Board noted that his appointment comes at a pivotal time for the sector, where convergence of power systems with digital technologies is reshaping utility operations. With this leadership change, Sharika Enterprises is expected to further deepen its engagement in smart grid deployments and digital infrastructure projects, as utilities move toward more intelligent, automated and integrated networks.
