Uttar Pradesh Records Strong Rooftop Solar Growth Under PM Surya Ghar Scheme in FY 2025–26; Momentum Builds Ahead of PowerPax India Expo

Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a leading state in rooftop solar adoption, delivering a strong performance under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme during FY 2025–26.

According to the latest data, the state installed 3,47,729 rooftop solar systems during the financial year, reflecting rapid progress in decentralized solar adoption. In a notable milestone, 3,188 installations were recorded on March 31, 2026 alone, marking the highest number of installations achieved in a single day.

With this growth, the total number of rooftop solar installations in the state has reached 4,57,925 systems, demonstrating increasing consumer participation in clean energy solutions. The cumulative installed capacity now stands at 1,161.756 MW, contributing significantly to the state’s renewable energy portfolio.

The expansion of rooftop solar has also strengthened power generation, with an estimated daily electricity generation of 1,524 MW. This growth is enabling consumers to access affordable, clean, and self-reliant energy, aligning with the broader vision of sustainable development.

Amid this rapid growth, industry attention is now shifting towards the PowerPax India Renewable Energy Expo 2026, scheduled to be held in Varanasi on 2–3 May 2026. Recognized as the upcoming No.1 solar expo in Varanasi, the event will bring together solar companies, EPC players, component manufacturers, and energy solution providers on a single platform. Registration is free.

The expo is expected to play a key role in accelerating rooftop solar adoption and strengthening the renewable energy ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh and across India by enabling networking, business expansion, and technology showcase opportunities.

With strong policy support and growing industry collaboration, Uttar Pradesh continues to position itself at the forefront of India’s clean energy transition.
