Coal India Limited (CIL) has successfully commissioned a 100 MW solar power plant in Gujarat, marking a significant step in the company’s transition towards clean energy. The commissioning certificate for the project was issued on May 4, 2026, by the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA), with the plant becoming operational effective March 31, 2026.
The solar facility is located at Bhadramali village in Deesa taluka of Banaskantha district, Gujarat. This development reflects Coal India’s strategic diversification into renewable energy and reinforces its commitment to supporting India’s sustainable energy goals.
According to the official communication submitted to stock exchanges, the announcement has been made in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Coal India stated that the commissioning of this solar project is part of its broader initiative to expand its renewable energy portfolio, aligning with national priorities for reducing carbon emissions and increasing the share of green energy in the power mix.
The company, recognized as a Maharatna public sector enterprise, continues to explore opportunities in the renewable sector while maintaining its core coal production operations.
