UltraTech Surpasses 200 MTPA Capacity, Poised to Lead Global Cement Industry Outside China

UltraTech Cement has reached a record cement production capacity of 200.1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), reinforcing its position as one of the largest cement manufacturers globally.

The milestone follows the recent addition of 8.7 MTPA capacity through the commissioning of new grinding units during the peak construction season. This expansion has enabled the company to cross the 200 MTPA mark, a significant benchmark in the global cement industry.

With this achievement, the company continues to strengthen its leadership in the Indian market while consolidating its position as the largest cement producer outside China. The expansion reflects a sustained strategy focused on capacity growth to meet rising demand from infrastructure and construction sectors.
Despite the strong capacity growth, market observers have highlighted potential challenges in the near term, including rising input costs linked to global geopolitical factors and relatively stable cement price realisations across India. These factors may influence margins even as volumes continue to grow.

The company had ended FY25 with a capacity of around 188.8 MTPA, and the latest expansion underscores its aggressive growth trajectory and execution strength in scaling operations within a short timeframe.

UltraTech Cement is expected to continue its expansion momentum, with plans to further increase capacity and strengthen its footprint across key markets, supported by ongoing infrastructure development and urbanisation trends in India.
